Russell F. Thomas is an attorney practicing in Nashville, Franklin, Murfreesboro and throughout Middle Tennessee. Russell represents individuals facing a variety of legal issues in both state and federal court, including criminal offenses such as assault, domestic assault, DUI, violations of orders of protection and violations of probation.
Prior to starting his private law practice, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in Nashville where he prosecuted hundreds of misdemeanor and felony cases, including D.U.I., drug offenses, white collar offenses and murder.
Russell holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martingale-Hubbell, which represents the highest ranking given to a lawyer by his peers for both professional excellence and ethical conduct. He is a member of the Tennessee, Nashville and American Bar Associations. Additionally, he is an active member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, and the Belmont American Inn of Courts. Russell formerly chaired the Criminal Law and Criminal Justice Committee of the Nashville Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal trial and appellate courts in Tennessee and has over 13 years of criminal trial experience.
Russell is married to Mary Beth Thomas and they have three young children. He and his family are active in Westminster Presbyterian Church, enjoy being outdoors on the weekends, and love to cheer on the Tennessee Vols.
